Irish Soda Bread


  • 2 cups Baking Free Gluten-Free all purpose flour (248 g)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk


Make your own buttermilk anytime by combining 1 cup milk (or almond milk) and 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar.  Let stand 10 minutes at room temperature.


Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2
Grease a 9 inch round cake pan.
Step 3
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and buttermilk.
Step 5
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet.
Step 6
Stir just until combined. Pour into the prepared cake pan.
Step 7
Bake for 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 8
Cool on rack for 10 minutes in the pan.
Step 9
Remove from pan and serve slightly warm. Cut into 8 pieces.
